Free High Res Art

For all you KC Chiefs fans here is some free art. I did these about 7-8 years ago. Feel free to take them. Most are digital. The Larry Johnson and Derrick Johnson are traditionally painted. Acrylic on Masonite. I hired a professional photographer to capture them for me. Enjoy!

Xbox One Controller Mod into fight stick_Just a test

Hi Guys I just picked up a Xbone and Killer Instinct. The d-pad on the Xbox One controller still sucks for fighting games. It just feels like it's in a awkward place. I just found out the fightstick is coming out on the 13th of December and it will cost $200. I wanted to see what I could get away with modding the controller much like I did the 360 when it came out. Street Fighter II Turbo was the motivation for the first one. Now it's KI this time around.

Lets see how it turned out.

There is a single screw in the battery case that needs to be taken out. Then you need to pry the sides open to reveal the other screws. Once those are out the whole case comes apart.

Finally got to the circuit board assembly. It comes in 2 parts now. The "B" button is on the back CBA.

They made it really easy this time around because all the buttons share a common ground now. So less wiring on the CBA is good. I made a CG wiring harness that is feeding from the right directional button.

Sorry for the mess and I forgot to take pics when I was soldering all the wires. I wasn't set up corectly for documenting. I gutted a old TE stick that I picked up on Craigslist for 35 dollars. I tore out all the old stuff and started with a clean palette.

Now it's time for testing. I want to keep everything loose until I make sure everything is working. The only buttons I couldn't figure out were the trigger buttons. They got some crazy magnets that activate the signal. I couldn't find a ground or signal to branch from. Some future shit. I never use the trigger buttons anyway. If I want to make the last 2 buttons on my stick I will daisy chain all the punch buttons into one and I would do the same with the kick buttons. But I don't need that right now.

It's all done. Everything works. Here is a video of me testing it to make sure that it's legit. Sorry for the lack of details. I was trying to just figure it out this time. I will try to capture more on the next one.

Gaiden Inferno Final

Could't get any feedback with my Japanese translation on "Gaiden Inferno" so I decided not to take the risk of keeping it. So here it is without it. I really wanted to replicate a Godzilla poster I saw when I was a kid. Still jamming on the game. The light at the end of the tunnel is coming. It's been so long since I took a break. I can't wait until I can do that. In the meantime...driving on.

Leviathan Zero Ultra Art_Final

More ultra art. The 4 headed sea cannon. Played around with the title placement but not too sure if I like it yet. Tons of art being generated these days. But can't show it right now. Hopefully I will get to post some of my industrial art. Picked up some new exciting clients recently. I should hear if I get approval next week. Lots of stuff happening. I can't wait to show everything. Very exciting.

Gaiden Inferno

Ultra Art one sheet for Steel Grit. I'm not sure if the Japanese translastion is accurate yet. I used google translate. I'm looking for some Japanese experts to tell me if this is right or not. Will find out next week. One of 3 for the game.

Hard day's work

Been grinding hard in the dungeon these days working on Steel Grit. The game is shaping up nicely and I'm very pleased in the direction it's going. Woring with my programmer on some game play mechanics and generating art as fast as I can. Hopefully I'll have more to post soon. Here are is a preview of a victory art that will be peppered thought out the game. This is Brass soaking in a hard day's work around a fire with his dog. Hope you like.

Lunar Lander: Google X-Prize

About 5 years ago I was lucky enough to work on one of the pitches for Google X-Prize Lunar Lander. This is a still frame from one of the animations. It's very crude because I didn't know what I was doing at the time but I had 8 hours to storyboard it, get it approved and then animate the sequence. The good thing about getting thrown into the fire is you learn quickly. It's amazing what urgency will do to your skill set. Unfortunately we didn't get the prize. But the experience was priceless.

Jordan 5000s

Jordan 5000s. They just give you a mech that plays ball for you instead of shoes. Future nonsense.

Jordans

Jordan's birthday was today so I felt like drawing Jordans. Wanted to design something off the "89" versions.

Rancor Dragon Update

I don't have a lot of projects that require me to design female characters. So I'm trying to get better at them. I used no reference so it's taking a little longer than it should. But I want to test my knowledge of anatomy. But at this point I think I need to go back to anatomy studies and learn to block them in properly in the beginning stages. My process isn't efficient when it comes to designing characters. In fact I'm discovering I need to go back to design exercises in general. I need to build my "visual library" as Feng Zhu would say. And the only way to get better at that is to keep drawing and be mindful of design.
